Delaware County Council announces Installation of Drug Drop Boxes
Delaware County residents now have access to secure medication drop boxes to dispose of unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs that can be lethal when they fall into the wrong hands.
Through the continuing efforts of Delaware County Council, the District Attorney and the Delaware County Heroin Task Force, "Delco Medicine Drop" boxes have been installed at 25 different locations throughout the county.
Medications in standard containers can be deposited in those containers. Loose medication can be put in plastic bags. Liquid medications should be enclosed in secure containers. Be sure to remove all personal information before disposal.
Delaware County Heroin Task Force
Nationwide heroin overdoses increased 244 percent between 2007 and 2013.
In recognition of the toll the heroin epidemic is taking on the community, Delaware County Council, the District Attorney and Delaware County agencies formed the Delaware County Heroin Task Force in 2012 to address this public health concern.
